Winds of Change...blow!

There was electricity in the air. A palpable change was afoot, and it started soon after that people began forming at the gates and entrances to the government buildings in Washington D.C. The first ones weren't really noticed, but as the lines grew bigger and wrapped themselves around the perimeter of every one of the capitol's hundreds of buildings, it was impossible not to notice. Then the lines started to multiply as more and more people streamed in. By the third day, there were thousands and thousands of the lively, chattering, mostly anticipatory citizens of the United States packed into huge crowds in their capitol city. And as the crowds steadily grew, first around the White House and the Capitol, the gathering spread to all of the bloated bureocracy's buildings; Congressional office buildings, and all Departments- the public swelled at every entrance, and wrapped competely around the properties.

At some point it became obvious that nothing could hold back these crowds, and instead of firing uselessly into the crowd, the policemen and federal agents disarmed and allowed the will of the people to rule. The massive crowd streamed into every entrance and office, swallowing up everyone inside.

Federal employees themselves were now part of the throng, but the (seemingly) life-long elected members of the two houses were nervous. And for good reason. After years and years, and generations of families making their fortunes by “serving” in the political arena and getting elected over and over, then their children and sometimes, after they finally die, their wives- it was all coming to an end. These were the true “entitled” people. They have raped and pillaged for DECADES are finally getting their just reward.

As they bolt for the door, their security details, who have decided to side with the thickening mobs, begin to detain them. They find it quite easy to listen to their former bosses whine and cry for their lives. The balance of power has forever shifted.

There isn't a propensity for violence in this mob. It is friendly, amicable even. It is free from worry and indecision. The will of the American people will be carried out. Finally when noone is allowed in or out of the public's buildings, the elected elite are removed. It is orderly. They are taken into custody and will be tried in a public court, outdoors in front of a gallows. Those convicted of murder, genocide and other crimes against humanity will be summarily executed. Most will simply be shunned, and forbidden to run for election or serve in any public office. It is akin to a death sentence for some.

As the Congress and White Houses' occupants are removed, the crowd streams in to take posession again. There are cheers, and victory dances. There is a gleeful exuberence in this repossession. It took quite a long time, hopefully never as long again, for the American people to wake up and take action to remedy a problem so entrenched, so widespread, this abuse of power and profitteering, this corruption and partisanship. The Republic had grown into a wasteful, politically correct, sneering, utterly corrupted government apparatus. So everything must go, and everything must start anew. Gone were the carpets on the floors, the expensive paintings on the walls. The expensive adornments the politicians voted for themselves. The fleet of cars that transported the elite were confiscated by their drivers!

The crowds thinned out a few days later after everyone had a chance to view as much of the cleaned government as they wished. The trials and executions had already started, and citizens interested in serving were establishing their names as candidates. Most went back to their homes, but with a new interest in their local governments. All who were before, are no more. A few of the honest politicians were allowed to continue, but no more than their newly enacted term limit would allow.
