Last night I drove to the store to get an energy drink..I do this several times a week, but last night instead of going to In & Out or Valero where I usually go, I went to Shell at Keith Harrow and Queenston...I don't know, I just pulled out of my driveway and drove that direction not even thinking about it. When I pulled into Shell I went in and got my Amp and started out the door, upon walking out I was immediately drawn to a lady at the last gas pump on the right...just leaning on the back of her car, head in her hands..she glared at me as I made my way to my truck. I got in the truck put my seatbelt on...I heard a voice..an audible voice say "She needs you"...I knew straightaway because this has happened before...it was the lady. I turned the truck off , got out and walked to the lady still leaning on her car...she looked at me coming and began to cry hysterically ( I thought to myself, "what is happening or about to happen here") when I reached her still crying, I placed my hand on her shoulder and looked at her and asked "what is it I can do for you"...she stopped crying and asked me, still catching her breath from crying "who are you?"..."do you know my daddy"...I said "I'm John".."and no I don't know your daddy"..."but what can I do to help"..She said " my daddy is in the hospital dying and he may not live much longer...I need to get to him"...( I'm thinkin this is a scam to get money like it happens all the time)...but the voice...the voice..that's happened before...I just silenced the doubt and continued...as she told me her story I noticed the young man, about 14 sitting in the passenger seat...I noticed a sticker on the window that said "Watkins Honor Roll"..as I continued listening to her story he got out and walked to the back of the car placing his arm around his Mom and his head on her shoulder..he looked up at me, stern faced and strong and said "we need to get to Papaw Bill"...
This is where YOU come in...earlier that day while talking to Lisa at lunch, I discussed my attempts to get donations for the ministry.. or the "potential" ministry...she understands me so well and we are very close. when she got home that day she handed me $20 and said " I want this to go to the ministry"..."we don't have much money, but we have more money than alot of people"...I said, " Thanks Honey..but listen, Ian promised $20 too, so when he drops his money off I'll give it back to you so we can pay for Jay's glasses, ok?"..."so this is Ian's money basically and now Ian owes you $20 bucks, " we laughed and said ok then. I folded the $20 and put it in my pocket with the other $3 I had.
So anyway, after the kid said "we need to get to Papaw Bill"..I looked at him and reached in my pocket and pulled out that $20..I handed it to him to take to the clerk for $20 worth of gas on pump 1..he walked away and the Mom began crying again..she asked again "who are you?".."do you live around here?"..I said again, " I'm just John and I live right up the road here"...she said " you don't understand, we have been sitting here praying for God to send us this miracle so we could see Daddy"..." I just cannot believe this"...at that point my own tears that had welled up for 20 minutes let loose...I told her our story and I told her about the man "Ian" who donated this $20 for Gods work to be done...she prayed out loud " Dear God bless Ian and bless this man John, thank you Lord for answering our prayer... She hugged me and thanked me again and again and said "my name is Lindsey"...I shook the young mans hand and told him to take care of his Mom, he pumped the gas and they left..
This morning out of pure curiosity I looked at the Chronicle obituary...
and in alphabetical order...first on the list was - William Richard "Bill" A****s...survived by his daughter "Lindsey"
These things have happened many times in my life and I often stress (maybe too much) that if you want to live out of the norm, just live for God because He always makes it interesting. There is so much work to be done and we really have no earthly idea what we will be called to do next...listen...if not for the generosity of a man combined with the passion of a man called..this miracle would not have happened. forever I will remember these occurences because God causes us to retain all things "God"...and it causes us to tune in to that "still, small voice."
God bless you bro and may He rain down His supernatural favor on you and your household! In Jesus Name! Amen
John
