I Jesu Navn
I have a fairly large pie-slice of Norwiegian in me, exactly half actually. And this is a poem and prayer from long, long ago. When I was a kid, we said it at the table, although my mom was the keeper of the Norwiegian lore.
So, this is the ageless Norwiegian Table prayer, and one translation.
I Jesu Navn gar vi til bords
A spise, drikke pa ditt ord.
Deg, Gud til aere, oss til gavn,
Sa far vi mat I Jesu navn.
Amen
Translation:
In Jesus' name we sit at the table,
To eat and drink at your word.
By humbly honoring you, God,
We have food in Jesus' name.
