"If the Palestinians gave up their weapons there would be peace tomorrow, but if Israel gave up it's weapons there would be genocide tomorrow"Recently, President Obama's decree seemed to add an unfair aspect to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, yet for those who delve deeper, not just surf the headlines, we know the parameters haven't changed by much as respect to the stance of the United States. The 1967 Borders and their postitions for the partition of the land presently shared by Israel and the Arab "Palestinians" is the agreed upon borders by Israel for many, many years. The difference is in the wording, which follows the term 'pre-1967 borders'..." mutually agreed upon land swaps". You see, Israel understands land for peace: it always has. But Israel has to be able to defend itself, and knows it cannot give back strategic lands. Lands which overlook major Israeli cities when in the hands of Arabs is a breeding ground for attack. That is why Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu terms these delineations as "indefensible". They cannot give them back.
Michael Medved is a conservative talk show host and a Jew who does his best to lay out in the most fair terms possible the essential questions about this confict which has stretched on for generation after generation. I urge everyone to pay a visit to his website and read his latest post on this subject. It is articulate, and historical in nature. All we need to do is revisit the past: read the statements of the leaders at the time, to understand the different aspects to this deep running conflict. It's a conflict of ideology, and as Medved quotes, it was the following statement that summed it all up back many, many years:
"If Palestine gave up their weapons, there would be peace tomorrow. If Isreal gave up it's weapons, there would be genocide tomorrow"
Pray for the strength to continue in Israel, and for the continued assistance of God Almighty, for no country could hope to survive the continued onslaught Israel has absorbed had it not the favor of a loving God.
"Dear Lord, hear our prayer that Israel may one day experience peace and the sons and daughters of this land may never have to sacrifice the most precious gift you give to us all, our very lives in their defense. See them through this and all dark hours, and please touch the souls of those who are decieved by false truths and propaganda and hatred passed on by their forefathers. Lord, hear our prayers and guide us to serve you and your will to the best of our abilities.Amen"-Katykarter
